This blend of fine superwash merino wool, pima cotton, and linen, has a cool but soft hand, making it a lovely choice for summer tank tops, beach cover ups, shawls and sweaters. The pima cotton and linen content of the yarn gives it a subtle heather when dyed with acid dyes, while the wool content keeps this blend light, bright and enjoyable to knit with.

Skeins

A skein is loop of yarn twisted into a helix shape. This shape is the most common presentation of hand dyed yarn you will see in a yarn store.

The skein is tied to prevent the yarn from getting tangled during dyeing. Skeined yarn needs no extra preparation to dye. Just untwist the skein to lay it flat and it’s ready for your dye process.

Pack

A pack is several skeins of yarn packaged together in a bag. Typically yarn comes in 5 or 10 skeins per pack, which equals 500 to 1000 grams, depending on the yarn type.

These skeins are twisted and come with a tag, so they are ready for retail shelves. If you choose to dye them, these skeins are great for beginners because they have a lower chance of getting tangled.

Folded Hanks

A hank is a loop of yarn that is folded instead of twisted like a skein. For bulk dyeing, folded hanks save time because you don’t need to untwist them before dyeing.

There is no difference between the yarn in a folded hank and a skein. Folded hanks come without tags and in 500 or 1000 gram packs, depending on the yarn type.
