Corrie is named for the renowned and cute Corriedale breed of sheep. Made from 100% Corriedale wool, Corrie has a woolen spun construction making it light and airy despite its round, sturdy feel. Corriedale wool is crisp, durable and resists sagging. We’re dreaming of making big cozy coats and cardigans reminiscent of pricey boutique knits in Corrie. You might be familiar with other woolen spun yarns, Corrie is different! The yarn’s defined ply structure with plenty of twist gives Corrie elegant stitch definition and so much strength. Corrie Aran is a four ply yarn perfect for coats, chunky sweaters and blankets. For best dyeing results, give Corrie a thorough rinse before you begin.

Skeins

A skein is loop of yarn twisted into a helix shape. This shape is the most common presentation of hand dyed yarn you will see in a yarn store.

The skein is tied to prevent the yarn from getting tangled during dyeing. Skeined yarn needs no extra preparation to dye. Just untwist the skein to lay it flat and it’s ready for your dye process.

Pack

A pack is several skeins of yarn packaged together in a bag. Typically yarn comes in 5 or 10 skeins per pack, which equals 500 to 1000 grams, depending on the yarn type.

These skeins are twisted and come with a tag, so they are ready for retail shelves. If you choose to dye them, these skeins are great for beginners because they have a lower chance of getting tangled.

Folded Hanks

A hank is a loop of yarn that is folded instead of twisted like a skein. For bulk dyeing, folded hanks save time because you don’t need to untwist them before dyeing.

There is no difference between the yarn in a folded hank and a skein. Folded hanks come without tags and in 500 or 1000 gram packs, depending on the yarn type.
