A novel and natural option joins the Knomad family with Cloudette! An airy puff of merino wool fills a chainette tube of Pima cotton to create a truly unique and multidimensional yarn. Cloudette's wool content soaks up color like a sponge, while the Pima cotton tube remains a natural cream color, lending a two tone effect to the dyed yarn. Bouncy and light, Cloudette is super fun to dye and even more fun to knit and crochet with. Cloudette's satisfying worsted weight works up quickly and easily into sweaters, accessories and more. Please note that this yarn does best when heated gently, as overheating or boiling this yarn can cause the wool fibers to felt together slightly.

Skeins

A skein is loop of yarn twisted into a helix shape. This shape is the most common presentation of hand dyed yarn you will see in a yarn store.

The skein is tied to prevent the yarn from getting tangled during dyeing. Skeined yarn needs no extra preparation to dye. Just untwist the skein to lay it flat and it’s ready for your dye process.

Pack

A pack is several skeins of yarn packaged together in a bag. Typically yarn comes in 5 or 10 skeins per pack, which equals 500 to 1000 grams, depending on the yarn type.

These skeins are twisted and come with a tag, so they are ready for retail shelves. If you choose to dye them, these skeins are great for beginners because they have a lower chance of getting tangled.

Folded Hanks

A hank is a loop of yarn that is folded instead of twisted like a skein. For bulk dyeing, folded hanks save time because you don’t need to untwist them before dyeing.

There is no difference between the yarn in a folded hank and a skein. Folded hanks come without tags and in 500 or 1000 gram packs, depending on the yarn type.
