Like the feathers of a bird, Quill has a majestic buoyancy that seems to defy gravity. Spun from a blend of soft Baby Suri Alpaca and Mulberry Silk, Quill gets its beautiful, fluffy loft thanks to the brushing process applied to the yarn. Quill is a lace weight yarn, but it looks equally spectacular knit up airy and open on big needles. You can use Quill stranded together with other yarns to add fuzz, like you would use mohair, or try it solo. Quill is a versatile canvas for all things soft and fuzzy your imagination conjures up!

Skeins
A skein is loop of yarn twisted into a helix shape. This shape is the most common presentation of hand dyed yarn you will see in a yarn store.
The skein is tied to prevent the yarn from getting tangled during dyeing. Skeined yarn needs no extra preparation to dye. Just untwist the skein to lay it flat and it’s ready for your dye process.
Pack
A pack is several skeins of yarn packaged together in a bag. Typically yarn comes in 5 or 10 skeins per pack, which equals 500 to 1000 grams, depending on the yarn type.
These skeins are twisted and come with a tag, so they are ready for retail shelves. If you choose to dye them, these skeins are great for beginners because they have a lower chance of getting tangled.
Folded Hanks
A hank is a loop of yarn that is folded instead of twisted like a skein. For bulk dyeing, folded hanks save time because you don’t need to untwist them before dyeing.
There is no difference between the yarn in a folded hank and a skein. Folded hanks come without tags and in 500 or 1000 gram packs, depending on the yarn type.

Mini Skeins
Mini skeins are small skeins of yarn made for things like needlepoint, color work, and advent calendars.
A typical skein weighs 50 or 100 grams. Mini skeins weigh 20 grams.
Cones
A cone is a length of yarn wound around a paper cone. Each cone weighs 1 kilo, the equivalent of 10, 100 gram skeins or 1000 grams.
Cones can be used to create extra long skeins for hand painting or gradients.
