Our Egret yarn is stunning in its simplicity. A single ply of fine organic merino wool gives off a subtle halo. At 437 yards per 100 gram hank, this luxurious undyed yarn is plenty soft for next to skin wear, making it perfect for sweaters and accessories like scarves and cowls. We’ve recently dropped the price on our Egret yarn. To celebrate, were sharing 4 beautiful skeins we dyed. Have you tried dyeing with our Egret 100% merino wool bare yarn? This colorway was inspired by a painting by Georgia O’Keeffe. The rich reds and terracotta color, with a bright contrast of cyan, remind us of a flower blooming in a desert landscape. We used the colors Cayenne Red, Honey Mustard, Deep Maroon, Persimmon, Tangelo, Saffron Spice, Soft Tan, and Spearmint Breeze , all acid dyes from Dharma Trading Company.
The inspiration for this colorway comes from the classic painting by Vincent Van Gogh called Starry Night. The deep blues offset the glowing pops of gold. This yarn gets a lovely, soft impressionist effect thanks to the glowy halo of Egret! We used the colors Honey Mustard, Alpine Blue, Sapphire Blue, Midnight Blue, and Dark Navy acid dyes from Dharma Trading Company to create this masterpiece.
We looked to the night sky itself when we created this yarn colorway. This yarn is washed in the brilliant hues of Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights. We used the colors Kelly Green, Spearmint Breeze, Caribbean Blue, and Toner black acid dyes from Dharma Trading Company.
We used an unexpected technique to create this color of yarn! First, we scattered small drops of fluorescent fuchsia acid dye (from Dharma Trading Company) diluted in water onto the yarn. Then we sprinkled the yarn with a color of Dharma fibre reactive dye for cotton called Shiitake Mushroom. We used this dye in its powder form and mixed it with a bit of powdered citric acid.
