Now that you saw the part 1 of this blog, let’s continue with part 2!
1. Add 7 mL of 1% Pecan Stock Solution to the pan or pot.
2. Add 3 skeins of yarn, ensuring that all skeins are fully submerged in the water. Add additional water if needed.
3. Carefully turn the skeins over a few times to ensure that they are fully and evenly coated with the dye.
4. Heat yarn ~30 minutes. Watch the pan carefully to ensure that the water temperature does not exceed ~85℃ or 185℉. Do not let the yarn boil or begin to bubble and agitate. Reduce the temperature and increase the heat time if needed to avoid bubbling water.
5. Remove yarn from the pan. Add another 7 mL of 1% Stock Solution to the pan. Return yarn to pan, turning the skeins over a few times to evenly coat the yarn with the dye.
Tip – Securing your skeins using a plastic zip tie or shower ring will allow you to easily pick the yarn up and out of the pan so that you can hold the yarn overhead in one hand while adding dye with the other.
6. Heat until all the dye has exhausted.
7. Let cool to room temperature before rinsing.
